Brian Smollers, Vice Chair

Growing up in Topeka, KS, Brian first accepted Jesus as his personal savior around the age of 10 but found a deeper walk with Christ in 2000.  Finding personal redemption through the love of Jesus and the friends at Westview Community Church, Brian met the former Beth Caskey in 2004 through a church softball game and the two were married in the summer of 2006.  Together, they helped facilitate a few small groups at Westview, including a young couples’ small group on Sunday mornings.  A few years later saw Brian and Beth move to the St. George area outside of Manhattan and join new attenders at the newly birthed TRU Community Church, where they have been attending since shortly after it was launched.  Brian joined the LAC in the summer of 2019 after prayer and sensing the Lord was leading him to step into the role.

Brian and Beth have two children, Brady and Brenna, who both attend Flint Hills Christian School in Manhattan.  In his spare time, Brian enjoys taking hikes, working in his wood shop or outside, and playing piano/guitar (poorly).

Brian is the Senior Director of Broadcast Services for K-State Athletics and serves as a the lead sportscaster for K-State’s Big 12 Now on ESPN+ productions as well as many other K-State radio broadcasts, TV and radio shows, and public appearances.

Brian’s favorite Bible verse is Proverbs 3:5 “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding.”
